Sculpting the Face Certification
A myofascial approach to facial massage for sculpting and lifting the face.
Includes theory of the fascia and its relationship to skin health, aging, emotion and the nervous system, as well as a full sculpting routine for chest, neck, scalp and face.
Fascia, Fluidity and Flow: The Yin Approach to Facial Massage
Superficial fascial work, with its slow, gentle and long holds, aligns beautifully with the principles of Yin in Chinese medicine. Yin represents stillness, receptivity and nourishment - qualities mirrored in this style of fascial release.
Unlike deeper, more forceful techniques that engage the Yang aspect of the body, superficial fascial work invites the body into a state of surrender and deep restoration. By working with the skin and underlying connective tissue in a slow and intentional way, this approach encourages hydration, elasticity and energy flow without force, much like Yin energy cultivates quiet transformation rather than rapid action.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), fascia is deeply connected to the fluids of the body - Yin substances like lymph, interstitial fluid and blood plasma. When fascia becomes restricted, it can lead to stagnation, preventing the smooth circulation of these vital substances. Gentle myofascial techniques mirror Yin’s ability to soften, nourish and create space, allowing energy (Qi) and fluids to move freely. This restores harmony in the skin and underlying structures.
This approach also supports the parasympathetic nervous system - the Yin side of our autonomic function - encouraging deep relaxation, repair and receptivity. Just as Yin practices in Chinese medicine prioritize slowness and presence, superficial fascial release works with the body’s natural rhythms, creating profound change through subtle yet powerful techniques.
